Full Disclosure.
The KeyStation Eclipse framework is built via a series of Overlay Elements - allowing a simple background photo to become an integral part of the design of any layout.

Like the original KeyStation themes, KeyStation Eclipse was designed from the ground up to be a truly flexible platform for both traditional projector-driven presentations and Interactive and Kiosk-mode presentation options available in iWork '05 / Keynote 2. Designed with an eye toward the Web and Interactive media, the KeyStation themes blur the line between presentation and interactivity, so you can build interactive presentations and kiosks with a User-Interface standard your audience will immediately understand and be able to interact with on their own. Every level of the theme is optimized with information design principles in mind - from the standard "Presenter" slides that span the traditional slide types, to the Kiosk-mode slides that bring in interface-oriented elements such as menu screens, directories and galleries - so you can be ready to present an information-rich interactive presentation in no time.

What began as a framework for Architectural or Industrial Design presentations quick evolved into a fully-featured, general purpose framework for highly stylized presentation and kiosks suitable for a wide range of topics. KeyStation Eclipse is, quite simply, our most advanced Platform-style design yet - built using a multi-layered, semi-translucent framework that reveals anything layered underneath. Full-body Gallery-style slides bring your images onto center stage, with or without captions, and the Panel-based designs float information panels, including inset imagery, over the stock background or your own imagery - creating a unique "ghosting" effect behind your content while keeping your text crisp + easy to read. Rather than traditional photo "cut-outs," KeyStation Eclipse includes photo Mask Overlays - bordered and shadowed elements that show you exactly where to mask your imagery, allowing you to place photos over custom backgrounds without modifying the overall design. The overlay approach allows OS X 10.4 Tiger users to take their presentations to a whole new level, by giving you the flexibility to use the exclusive Quartz Composer motion backgrounds included with KeyStation Eclipse on any layout in your presentation - including photo masters - so you can bring any slide in your presentation to life, no matter what you need to display.

The Slides

Along with the standard general-purpose slides included in each Keynote theme, KeyStation Eclipse includes up to 35 additional Master Slides (in Pro/HD Versions) - a wide range of photo and text-based layouts in both standard and kiosk-oriented designs. Every master includes a running set of logo/navigation bars, so you've got space to brand your presentation/kiosk and add navigation or a running title without any additional customization required. The Kiosk-oriented slides are provided in a range of Home, Menu and Panel-based designs, with an array of options for 2, 3 or 4-up secondary options on the Home layouts and matching Menu/Directory level layouts. The KeyStation Eclipse Gallery-Style slides remove all photo overlays and push full-screen image placement, with a selection of Caption elements - perfect for making a fully immersive gallery. And thanks to the advanced Platform-style approach, you can take the raw KeyStation Eclipse framework and make it entirely your own with only minor modifications - enabling you to create a fully-customized interactive presentation with little more than a background color or image change.

Massive Flexibility.
KeyStation Eclipse is our most advanced Platform framework yet - from full-body Gallery-style slides that let your images command the entire focus, to the Photo Overlay mask guides that let you place photos over the optional Quartz Composer motion backgrounds for a truly breathtaking effect.

The Cinematic Edge

KeyStation HDCreating a compelling interactive presentation or kiosk in Keynote's native 4:3 Projector-oriented mode isn't the best solution if you're yearning to set up a Plasma/HDTV, iMac G5 or Apple Cinema Display-based kiosk solution. So we've developed KeyStation Eclipse HD, available exclusively in the KeyStation Eclipse Pro Edition, to open the doors to HD-presentations that take full advantage of these larger displays. KeyStation Eclipse HD provides you with aspect-optimized 16:9 and 16:10 versions of KeyStation Eclipse, along with additional masters optimized specifically for HD presentations, so you can take advantage of the clean simplicity of the iMac G5 or a PowerMac-driven 20, 23 or 30" Cinema Display or Plasma Screen as target presentation platforms without the "dead space" associated with running traditional 4:3 presentations on an HD display. Your presentation will look like it was custom-tailored for your machine, and KeyStation Eclipse will make it look great every step of the way.

Supplemental Material

We've included a Supplemental Presentation with the KeyStation Eclipse themes - a fully interactive demo file that walks you through a basic KeyStation Eclipse interactive/kiosk-mode presentation right out of the gate. The Supplemental Presentation walks you through the basics of the Eclipse chart palette & fills, a range of interactive extras such as direction/navigation buttons, Caption/Title Overlay objects, a Windowing Object model and a Photo Overlay object for creating your own photo layouts - as well as tips and guidance for using an "invisible button" approach for touch-screen enabled kiosks and additional tips for getting the most from Keynote's interactivity features. And since the entire Supplemental file is a kiosk-mode presentation, you can quickly disassemble the Supplemental Presentation itself for a quick tutorial on structure and practice.

Quartz Composer Extras
Presenters using Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger will want to explore the exclusive Quartz Composer elements included in the Supplemental Materials folder - lightweight, full-motion Quicktime elements that can be used within your KeyStation Eclipse presentation to bring any layout to life. The basic background animations echo the shape of the Eclipse bullet, set to subtle motion across a range of background colors - from the stock KeyStation Eclipse blue background to lively Orange, Yellow and Green gradient versions that provide a great color break anywhere in your presentation. The Timer Clips provide a unique means of keeping the current date and time actively displayed in your Kiosk - via a single clip or broken up into 2 separate clips on either side of your presentation - giving your Kiosk a distinct "application" feel with nothing more than a few clicks on the Quicktime Inspector Panel. A demo Keynote file is included to get you started, or if you're feeling adventurous, crack open Quartz Composer to create your own shape, image or color variations from the included .qtz files and make something wholly unique. The Quartz Composer elements require Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger & Quicktime 7. These clips will not run on OS X 10.3 Panther.

Only With Keynote

Only Keynote gives you the power to create stunning, highly-designed interactive presentations and kiosks with such ease and flexibility. Thanks to the interactivity features made possible with Keynote 2, creating an interactive presentation is as easy as masking a photo behind an overlay or highlighting text and linking it to another slide - Keynote will even maintain your links for you as you add content or re-arrange your presentation, so you can set up the basics and get right into production in no time, knowing that your transitions will still grab attention, no matter if the next slide is just the next literal slide away or at the other end of your presentation. Use the new WebView feature to connect to local web services to display snapshot-based web information directly in your presentation. Or take the entire concept to extremes using the HD themes in KeyStation Pro with your massive G5-powered 23 or 30" Cinema Display and the full-motion Quartz Composer backgrounds as running accents - a kiosk come to life with the power of Quicktime + HD. It's easy every step of the way, and wrapped in a professional look that'll get you noticed the first time you take the floor - or the moment your potential client walks through the door.

KeyStation Eclipse

Which version is right for you? KeyStation Eclipse comes in a light "Standard" version containing the 4:3 (1024x768 and 800x600) Themes, or a "Pro" version also containing KeyStation Eclipse HD (HD9 for 16:9 displays, HD10 for the iMac G5 or Apple Cinema Displays).

Keynote 3 Compatibility

Unfortunately, the new Movie Controls introduced in Keynote 3 prevent the Quartz Composer elements from working as designed/intended. We're recommending that all users who want to continue using these elements stick to Keynote 2 for their Eclipse presentations/kiosks until a fix or workaround is announced.

UPDATE: Thanks to KeynoteUser's Ken Drake for forwarding a bit of news from the Apple Support forums: a user has discovered that movie clips placed on a master slide will play as expected in Keynote 3 without a controller. From the View Menu, select View Master Slides - on each slide you'll be using the Composer clip on, handle your placement + settings on the Master in question - it will then appear on each slide using that master without the controller being visible. This should allow you to move your Eclipse presentations into Keynote 3 until Apple issues a definitive fix.
