The venerable MagnetBoard is a staple for prototyping, outlining and brainstorming. Ideas come to life through the interaction of root concepts and associative space in a process that can be, at times, as chaotic as it is kinetic. And therein lies a particular challenge when approaching the concept from the perspective of a theme: how do we capture not just the visual dynamics of a MagnetBoard - the raw tactile sense of material and placement - but also the free-flowing, mutable nature of the format that makes it so very appealing to use in the first place?

With MagnetBoard for Keynote '09, we've answered that challenge with a theme that's as flexible as your most free-flowing ideas might demand. We began with a richly-textured base of smooth, pressed steel, crisp paper and thumb-worn magnets begging to be touched. The core layouts frame a range of whole-page and mixed-element layouts covering all the basics - from single and multiple photo-driven slides to multi-topic content-driven models - each designed with an eye toward balance and holding focus on your content rather than its surroundings. But the theme really comes to life when you begin working with the Freeform Masters - bare-essential layouts designed to be used with the included Supplemental Objects library to build your own arrangements, layouts and content models on the fly. And you don't have to stop there: thanks to the advanced object-based transitions introduced in iWork '09, you can step through the shifting stages of an idea exactly like they were developed, using Magic Move to push groups around the stage just like they were on a surface right in front of you. MagnetBoard provides the foundation - where you take it is limited only by imagination.

The Slides

The MagnetBoard theme includes up to 31 master slides (HD) - a mix of whole-page and mixed-object layouts, along with the Freeform Masters optimized for custom layouts or accent object placement. The core layouts frame a range of general-purpose designs with an eye toward simplicity - crisp type on a visibly tactile foundation designed to drive attention toward your content rather than its surroundings. Multi-topic and multi-photo layouts extend on this base, rounding out the linear edges of the core styles with a bit of organic skew, while the Freeform Masters and Supplemental Objects open the metaphor up to your own interpretation with absolute control over nearly ever element on the stage. The accompanying chart fills - a bright, solid-color 2D palette or the more subdued patina-tint metallic 3D textures - allow you to provide additional contrast against the surrounding style or push the tone even further into your content with a unique twist.

The Big Picture: MagnetBoard HD.

MagnetBoard HD, available exclusively in the MagnetBoard Pro and Pro+Mobile Editions, expands the style into HD format with aspect-optimized 16:9 and 16:10 versions of the MagnetBoard design, so you can take advantage of the clean simplicity of the new iMac, a MacPro-driven Cinema Display, or a next-generation HD projection system as target presentation platforms without the "dead space" associated with running traditional 4:3 presentations on an HD display. Even run full screen on your new MacBook Pro to take full advantage of every inch of the remarkable display. Your presentation will look like it was custom-tailored for your machine.

MagnetBoard goes mobile with the MagnetBoard EP Edition themes, included in the MagnetBoard Pro+Mobile Edition, built to take the MagnetBoard style to the iPhone/iPod Touch or classic-format video-capable iPod in a format optimized for small-screen viewing. Our EP Edition Themes, short for Elevator Pitch, recreate their full-scale KeynotePro Theme namesakes with optimizations for increased readability and clarity on the iPhone and iPod Video screen, as well as Title Safe adjustments allowing you to use your EP presentations with the iPod Composite or iPod Component AV Cables and a television or projector without losing any of your important details.

For presenters on the go, you can be sure you'll get your point across even if you don't have the time or space to set up your notebook for the full-bore presentation: as long as you've got your iPhone, iPod Touch or video-capable iPod in hand, you're never without your pitch when the moment comes.
