Staying true to its roots, the new Platform '09 is designed with end-user customization in mind. We built upon years of customer feedback on the original Platform release, holding onto the core design values of easy, rapid design modification that the Platform approach enabled, while updating almost every aspect of the theme to take advantage of the newer iWork architecture, making it more flexible than ever before. What we ended up with is Platform '09 - a true chameleon of a Keynote theme that can stand on its own in its wholly-updated, contemporary palette, the familiar neutral grey of Platform Classic, or quickly adapt to its surroundings in the blink of an eye.

Every detail has been approached with ease-of-use in mind, resulting in a click-to-modify approach to theme customization. Every slide in Platform '09 can behave like a photo master, with inset layouts floating above a user-modifiable background, enabling you to change the entire tone of a slide simply by changing the background with color, photography, or even looping full-motion video. The paneled layouts, crisp type and subtle shadow all come together to build a classic uncluttered look all on its own, or provide you with the foundation to push it even further with your own personal touch.

The Slides

The Platform '09 theme includes 30 master slides - a mix of photo and alternate text layouts designed with an eye toward neutrality, allowing for a wide range of colors and textures to be used with little need for further customization. Small Panel and Title Plate Masters provide an expanded view of your background palette or imagery, while Citation and Compare & Contrast masters offer compelling new ways to move your narrative beyond the bullet. The accompanying chart palette feature rich earth tones designed to both echo the chocolatey brown of our native '09 palette or the gunmetal grey of the Platform Classic themes, providing neutral-range contrast against a wide range of color used beneath the platform itself.

The Big Picture: Platform '09 HD.

Platform '09 HD, available exclusively in the Platform '09 Pro or Pro+Mobile Editions, expands the style into HD format with aspect-optimized 16:9 and 16:10 versions of the Platform design, so you can take advantage of the clean simplicity of a an iMac, a Mac-driven Cinema Display or HD Monitor, or a next-generation HD projection system as target presentation platforms without the "dead space" associated with running traditional 4:3 presentations on an HD display.  Whether attached to an HD display or projecting to an HD-equipped room, your presentation will take full advantage of every inch, custom-tailored to intelligently adapt the Platform '09 aesthetic to the larger footprint of HD.

Platform goes mobile with the Platform '09 EP Edition themes, included in the Platform '09 Pro+Mobile Edition, built to take the Platform style to the iPhone/iPod Touch or classic-format video-capable iPod in a format optimized for small-screen viewing. Our EP Edition Themes, short for Elevator Pitch, recreate their full-scale KeynotePro Theme namesakes with optimizations for increased readability and clarity on the iPhone 3G/3Gs and Classic iPod Video screen, as well as Title Safe adjustments allowing you to use your EP presentations with the iPod Composite or iPod Component AV Cables and a television or projector without losing any of your important details.

The Platform '09 Supplemental Materials file includes the Platform '09 palettes, Button Objects for use in interactive presentations, Texture Overlay Objects and instructions for quickly making your own customizations to the theme using the"Blank Stage" master and user-configurable Platforms for creating your own custom layouts - all with click-to-edit ease.
